OUR PROJECTS

The blog for each of them describes the specific project in detail and documents date based progress with a full commentary and of course the obligatory pictures. The blog is updated every time we have something of substance to add which can be weekly or as long as a couple of months. We hope you enjoy browsing and reading our achievements and of curse some of our inevitable mistakes along the way.

THE BARN

The conversion of the 1970s apple shed/barn in the north west corner of our property into a 3 bed/2 bath luxury holiday let. The second biggest project in our plan this was a major undertaking, but hey... what could possibly go wrong?

THE DRIVEWAY

The renovation of the driveway that winds across the property and connects the barn to the road. A small matter of 260 concrete kerbs and 70 tonnes of gravel all undertaken in the midst of the unknowns of the first pandemic lockdown.

THE GARAGE

The renovation of the 6.5m x 6.5m outbuilding (that we think was part of the original 1780 construction) into a garage/tool store. This was the first major project we undertook and marked the very start our work on the property.

THE LAKE

The craziest project in our repertoire of madness concerns the construction of a 1.25 million litre lake in the land on the south west corner of the property. To be fair it was hard to envisage what else we might do with it so we thought why not?

THE MILL

Our 'grand design' sees us undertake our biggest challenge with the extension and renovation of the mill itself including adding a second storey to the adjoining building and constructing an internal bridge... every home should have one!

THE PADDOCK

Various works carried out on the paddock including re-fencing it, land drains, building a stable and and then re-fencing it again... don't worry all will be revealed... but suffice to say emus need higher fences than we realised.

THE SHEDS

The building of some sizeable sheds to re-home our ever increasing inventory (machinery, gardening tools, animal equipment, logs etc.) from the apple shed/barn which we needed to clear in order to convert it to a holiday let.

THE SOLAR

We ordered solar to be installed on the last day before the feed in tariff was abolished and then we needed to seriously tidy up the install which could, at best, be described as... well functional yet rudimentary probably covers it.
